About Bankruptcy Ease

Plain-language guides for people facing bankruptcy.

In short

Bankruptcy Ease publishes educational playbooks on Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy. We are not a law firm and do not provide legal advice.

Why Bankruptcy Ease exists

Every person has the legal right to represent themselves in bankruptcy court, and many people handle a simple Chapter 7 case on their own. But the official forms, rules, and procedures are written for courts and lawyers, not for the people filing. Bankruptcy Ease exists to close that gap: to explain the process in plain language, form by form, from deciding whether to file to receiving a discharge.

Whether you file on your own or hire an attorney, understanding what comes next makes every step less stressful and every conversation more productive.

What we make

The DIY Chapter 7 Playbook (73 pages) and The DIY Chapter 13 Playbook (71 pages) are step-by-step PDF guides with printable worksheets, current 2026 federal figures, and a plain-language walkthrough of every official form. The Complete Bundle includes both, for people weighing one chapter against the other.

Each playbook can be paired with an optional AI Companion, a skill package for supported AI tools that helps organize your paperwork, build a sourced deadline ledger, and check case captions, using the matching playbook as its educational guide.

How we write

We aim to be straight with you. Bankruptcy can give you a genuine fresh start, but some situations call for a lawyer, and you deserve to know which ones before you file. Every playbook includes a Red Flags checklist covering the situations where filing on your own is risky, and points to free and low-cost legal help.

Laws, fees, and exemption amounts change and vary by state and district, so each playbook also shows you where to confirm current requirements with official sources before you act.

What we are not

Bankruptcy Ease is not a law firm. Our playbooks and AI Companion are general educational materials. They do not give legal advice about your situation, file documents for you, or guarantee any outcome, and using them does not create an attorney-client relationship. See the legal disclaimer for details.
